A Royal Visit

In August this year, a very generous Thai married couple celebrated their birthdays together. Artist Mr Manrat Srikaranonda who turned 85 years old and his wife had a concert with friends and special guests in Bangkok and decided to give the proceedings of the night to Sarnelli House. Fr Ole was on hand to receive the very generous donation of almost 500,000 THB. Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali also attended the event and was interested in the work of Sarnelli House. After discussion with Fr Ole she offered her own physician to come and visit Sarnelli House and to help the children with HIV/AIDS in whatever way he could.

On 10th September  Dr Praphan Phanupak came to visit Sarnelli House  along with Dr Pope and his team from the Infectious Diseases Centre at Srinagarind Hospital, Khon Kaen where most of the children with HIV/AIDS from Sarnelli House are treated. The day before Dr Praphan’s visit a team from Her Royal Highness came to ensure that all the royal protocols were observed and to set up the hall with the appropriate materials to perform due honor to Her Royal Highness. The children had the day off school and they had their cleanest clothes on and were on their best behaviour. Fr Shea and Fr Ole showed Dr Praphan and his team around the houses and the clinic and he met and distributed gifts from HRH to the children. It was a great day and the first for Sarnelli House to have a representative of the Thai Royal family visit.
