Ceboride 2014

As of August 5 2014 the Cebo Ride has raised $US 68,600.00!! WELL DONE AND THANK YOU

The annual Cebo Ride took place on Saturday 19th July inWinsconsinUSA . This event is now in its 13th year and raises money for the children of Sarnelli House for their medical needs – the funds go towards medicines, health supplies and hospital trips. This year Cebo Ride was organized by Jodi Straub and her daughter Cana for the first time, and they did a great job! There was a total of 20 riders and six of them were new recruits. Cycling started at 0630 and the 55 mile ride was completed around noon. About 40 people greeted the riders at the finish line and stayed on to celebrate mass with Fr Shea, Fr Chuck Beierwaltes and Fr Dave Pollack and to enjoy lunch together.

All the riders made it back in one piece but one rider and regular volunteer at Sarnelli House-  Jim Snell took a wrong turn to chase another rider he thought was going in the wrong direction. He added 10 miles onto his ride but was eventually found and bought back onto the right track and finished the ride.  The bright fluorescent t-shirts were supplied by Mike Schneider of Badger Tires and jerseys and SAG support was provided by John Bartow of Fond du Lac Cyclery.

Many thanks to all who participated, organized and supported Cebo Ride, especially Jodi and Cana.

Update on Cebo ….

Cebo is now 20 years old and her birthday was 2 days after CEBO RIDE. She came to Sarnelli House when she was 6 years old – sick, malnourished and abandoned. Eventually with the help of good medicine and the care of the doctors at Nongkhai Hospital and SringaraindHospital as well as the loving care of the staff at Sarnelli House Cebo was well enough to attend school. But she has learning and speech difficulties and at 20 years old she is in Grade 9 and in her last year of school at Rosario School. Cebo loves animals and she is funny and a real girl – always making sure she is neat and tidy and loving the colour pink. Her size and weight are far below the normal for her age and despite milk and vitamin supplements her weight does not increase.  Her future health is uncertain but thanks to you all- her present happiness is assured.
